Convenient and healthy snack options for when you’re on the go

Do you have a busy routine where you find yourself forgetting to eat? Worried about not getting enough nutrition throughout your day? These grab and go snack options could be the solution to some of those problems!

Mixed nuts

If your taste buds swing more towards salty and crunchy, you need to start packing some mixed nuts! Other snacks like potato chips may seem like a delicious option instead, but the health benefits are slim to none. Potato chips are very high in sodium, and can create a host of health issues leading from high blood pressure to increased risk of heart disease. Mixed nuts on the other hand taste delicious and offer a variety of potential health benefits. You can also buy portable packs as well!

Mixed nuts are high in protein, loaded with antioxidants, and increase the amount of our overall good cholesterol. Nuts are also high in vitamins, minerals, and fibers that can be great if you are trying to lose weight!

Greek yogurt

Brands like Yoplait and Gogurt produce some delicious flavored yogurt, but are they even all that healthy? Most flavored yogurts are packed with added sugars and sweeteners. Instead, opt for some plain Greek yogurt and add in your very own natural and healthy toppings for that sweet touch!

What are some health benefits of Greek yogurt?:

  • Provides lots of calcium which is crucial to healthy bones.
  • Greek yogurt is rich in protein, so oftentimes it will act as an appetite suppressant.
  • The probiotics present in Greek yogurt can boost our gut health.
  • Because of the protein richness, Greek yogurt can also help build up muscle mass.

To add some extra flavor and sweetness to your Greek yogurt, consider adding in ingredients such as fresh fruit, granola, or even honey. Just pack some of your yogurt in a small to-go-container to make this a great portable snack!

Hard boiled eggs

Eggs are a great food because they come in lots of different options. Fried, boiled, scrambled, etc. With hard boiled eggs, you can take them on the go and enjoy them as a yummy healthy snack option. Boiled eggs are full of good fats and healthy protein. Boiled eggs have also been proven to help protect our eye health and promote healthy aging. Pack some boiled eggs in a container of your choice and you will have a great grab and go snack option!

Protein shakes

Protein, protein, and more protein! Protein is a huge part of any healthy diet and muscle loss can even occur if you don’t get enough. Because protein shakes have a healthy balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, they are a great option to keep your body feeling refueled and refreshed. Particularly after a workout! Check out this fresh blueberry smoothie recipe for a great protein shake option.

  • Lettuce
  • ½ pound deli turkey
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese
